Middlesex blind player called up to England Development squadFriday 11th February 2011 Middlesex & Home Counties rising star, Michael Smith, has been called up to the England Development squad following a meteoric rise over the previous 4 months he has been with the team. He is the first player from Middlesex to be called up to the England setup since the introduction of the FA regional blind team structure in 2009. Michael, 19, from Barnet, joined the team for training sessions in late 2010 and following his initial introduction has gone onto the play in two league fixture dates in the FA National Blind League. His call up came as a result of his stunning debut performance, which included a debut goal against Leicester, and an impressive overall performance in those days games. |
